Archery Coaches Camps
In the spring of 2017, a group of parents went looking for a set of structured classes or a program that would help take their child’s archery skills and knowledge to the next level. These parents approached Dan Hastings (USA Archery Level 3 – NTS Coach) and asked him to create a program and act as its Head Coach.
The initial program was named Coach Dan’s Archery Academy and was a pilot/test program to see if the concept would work. While the program was a huge success, several modifications were needed.
Dan brought in Mike Gunderson (USA Archery Level 2 Instructor) and with the support of Dan Ellyson (owner of A-1 Archery, LLC), the program was totally redesigned and renamed A-1 Archery’s Advanced Academy and was officially launched in the fall of 2017.
Dan worked very closely with several individuals at USA Archery and several top coaches including Linda Beck (Head Coach USA Archery Junior Dream Team and North Central Elite Archers) to develop the content and curriculum for the redesigned Advanced Academy. Since its launch the Advanced Academy has continue to grow and evolve.
In the Spring of 2018, the leaders introduced an outdoor component. The archers loved it and the program again, far exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Due to the growing success of this program, the leadership team saw a need to expand and created a framework for additional programs, like an advanced and elite team. They also agreed on a logo/theme for the new programs building off Grant Schleusner’s group of professional tournament archers known as the Wolf Pack. The leaders wanted to ensure that everything had a common look and feel. This is when the St. Croix Archery Academy was created.
